Overview

The City on the Narmada

Jabalpur holds a prominent place in the historical and cultural narrative of Central India. It served as the capital of the Gond Kings during the 12th century and later as an administrative centre under the Kalchuri dynasty.

A prominent city with vast history and cultural capital of Madhya Pradesh located on the banks of the Narmada, it serves as one of the state's largest urban centres — a key hub for administration, judiciary, defence, higher education and tourism anchored by the legendary Marble Rocks and Dhuandhar Falls.

The Jabalpur Lok Sabha constituency is a general (unreserved) parliamentary seat covering both the city and its surrounding rural areas, comprising 8 assembly segments and functioning as a long-standing BJP stronghold since the mid-1990s.

🌊 Dhuandhar Falls
Must Visit

Bhedaghat & Dhuandhar

The Narmada, making its way through the Marble Rocks, narrows dramatically and then plunges as the Dhuandhar Falls — "the smoke cascade." So powerful is this 10–30 metre waterfall that its roar is heard from far distances, creating a constant misty spray that gave rise to its legendary name.

The pristine white marble cliffs towering over the emerald river create an otherworldly landscape that has enchanted visitors for centuries — a crown jewel of Jabalpur's natural heritage.
